Lemonade for Kids of Hope
Sep 20, 2011
Driving the neighborhood streets of Poway was eye-catching last month. Several children from the community decided to show their support for the Rivers of Hope Foundation by selling lemonade for Hope!

William, Allie, Sidney, Bryce & Breanna Hawkins and Brenden, Keenan & Ryan O'Rourke all participated to offer lemonade on a hot and dry day in Poway all to support kids in foster care in San Diego county.
Following the day long event, over $400 was raised for the Rivers of Hope Foundation. Organizer Trish Hawkins said, "Our kids held the 2nd Annual Lemonade Stand for Charity. This year’s charity is THE RIVERS OF HOPE FOUNDATION, founded by San Diego Charger Philip Rivers and his wife, Tiffany. The money raised will go specifically to the Something Special Fund. This fund provides support for foster children for things that foster parents cannot provide such as sports equipment, music classes, a class photo, or application fees to apply for college."

Ryan O'Rourke, an 11th grade student at Rancho Bernado High School said, "It is a great feeling to know what we have contributed to the Rivers of Hope Foundation, and this wonderful cause of helping orphans find forever families".
"We are grateful and honored to have the youth of the San Diego community support the cause of caring for kids in the foster system".... Philip Rivers
